So, what’s new about Podiatry Week in 2025? Lots. Five key changes, in fact.

1. This year is (even) bigger

In previous years, Podiatry Week focused on direct-to-consumer outreach through our podiatrists and marketing efforts. This year, we’re expanding our approach by activating our partnerships to share your stories and promote podiatry more broadly.

Your role as a podiatrist will be more visible than ever – not just within health consumer circles, but across allied health, universities, Primary Health Networks, private insurers, advocacy groups, and government-funded organisations.

You and your patients already understand the value of podiatry. This year, we aim to reach new audiences while reinforcing key messages within your existing networks. This strategic shift builds on the partnerships we’ve cultivated over the years – now is the time to amplify their impact.

2. Going omnichannel – WTF? (What the Fudge…)

This buzz term in marketing circles certainly sounds impressive, but what is it – and why are we doing it this year?

Going ‘omnichannel’ means thinking outside the box in terms of who we want to reach, and how we want to reach them. Previously, mainstream and social media were key channels for us during Podiatry Week. These platforms are still a great way to reach new health consumers – yet it now falls short of our potential.

This year, we are speaking to target markets across partner channels, social media, and digital billboards to make sure that no matter which platform, the messages are consistently powerful.

3. Reallocating our budget (A.K.A ‘packing in the packs’)

In previous years, you may have received a ‘member pack’ in the lead-up to Podiatry Week. Think: fact sheets, merch, and advice on how to promote this event to your networks.

Given the power of digital content, we are switching traditional packs for digital packs with downloadable resources. We are redirecting these cost savings into new and bold installations (with media interest and public engagement always top of mind).

4. Following an entirely new roadmap

This marks the first year that we are being wholly guided by our newly defined strategic drivers and values. It forces us to step back and really ask ourselves: what are we doing, why are we doing it – and does it align with our values and strategic drivers? If not, it doesn’t make the cut. Less can be more, especially when it is carefully aligned with our strategic drivers and values.

This involves risk (see next point…) but it will be worth the reward.

5. Stretching ourselves for measurable impact

The values we have collaboratively set ourselves leave no room for compromise – including ‘Dream Big, Be Brave’, ‘Better Together’ and ‘Personal responsibility leads to collective excellence.’

This is exactly why our engagement metrics are set to be higher than ever this year, to keep ourselves accountable when it comes to measurable impact. After all, what is the point of Podiatry Week if we are not tracking its impact and stretching ourselves for the profession?  We will be transparent about these metrics, sharing our wins and lessons learned with you as we go.

What does this all mean for you?

  1. Celebrate your role
Take a moment during Podiatry Week to pause and reflect. Perhaps it is five minutes spent reading supportive social media posts, or seeing your profession represented in mainstream and digital media, or discovering which allied health, government and university strategic partners are going above and beyond to champion podiatry. This is the time to be seen and recognised.
  2. Feel supported
We want you to feel genuine support – from a range of sources. Expect to see podiatry featured across media, billboards, and online. Know that the APodA is investing resources transparently, backed by data and measurable outcomes – to ensure that this week is strategic and meaningful to the profession.
  3. Be encouraged to advocate for your practice
Podiatry Week gives you a coordinated, nationwide opportunity to engage your local networks – through newsletters, clinic events, and social media. This is our collective opportunity to educate your community about the power of podiatry. How? Glad you asked…
  4. Access all the resources you need
Digital resources will be available. Keep an eye on our email updates for access to clinic videos, bunting, ready-to-go social posts, and other marketing tips. Make this week work for you and your practice – and reach out to us for advice as a member.

More than ever – we look forward to celebrating Podiatry Week with you and our wider networks. We are ready to promote the power of podiatry and advocate during this week – even more effectively than ever before.
