Whether you’re navigating work-life balance, dealing with interpersonal issues, or facing any other difficulties, the Australian Podiatry Association’s (APodA’s ) Member Assistance Program is here to provide you with expert guidance, 24/7, all year round. With up to four free sessions available each year (and the possibility of additional sessions), APodA members can access professional help with just a phone call.

Types of support you can access

This service is designed to support you with almost any personal or work-related matter you might be dealing with as a podiatrist, and also outside of work. Topics often include:

  • Balancing work and personal life or managing feelings of stress or overwhelm
  • Relationship or family challenges
  • Workplace issues, such as bullying, harassment, or interpersonal conflicts
  • Addiction or dependency concerns
  • Financial coaching and advice
  • Coping with grief, loss, or trauma
  • Mental health and emotional support.

There is also a useful magazine you can access, called Flourish, with plenty of practical tips and a range of supportive resources.

What you need to do

Setting up a session is simple and confidential. Here’s how you can start; by doing any one of these three steps (and have your APodA membership number on hand).

  1. Phone: Call 1300 687 327 to speak directly to a contact who can arrange an appointment at a time that suits you.
  2. Mobile app: Download the ‘EAP Connect’ app and book your session right from your phone.
  3. Website: Visit convergeinternational.com.au and click on ‘Contact Us’ to book through the website.

What to expect

Each session is completely confidential; APodA and your workplace and colleagues will not receive any information about your appointment. Likewise, your conversations and session details are private and will never be shared with the APodA or your workplace.

This support is here for you, whenever you need it, so that you can focus on your personal and/or and professional wellbeing.

Once you’re with a counsellor, a variety of approaches and solutions may be explored, with the main goal to create a practical action plan to help you address your concerns as effectively and quickly as possible. Some things your counsellor might work on with you include:

  • Understanding the context of your situation to provide informed insights.
  • Developing strategies for positive change in your behaviour or lifestyle.
  • Learning to adapt to change and make the most of new opportunities.
  • Identifying practical coping strategies for dealing with difficult circumstances.

Each appointment is designed to meet you where you’re at, with the aim of making a positive impact on your personal or professional life.

Locations to suit you – remote or in person

Depending on your preference and location, Converge International offers flexibility for these sessions. You can have your appointment over the phone, or meet face-to-face at one of Converge’s national locations. For urgent issues, counsellors are available immediately over the phone.
